Why I love Easter
Easter Sunday is around the corner. Easter is one of my favorite holidays. I love that it is not centered around gifts. Trust me I love presents as much as the next guy, but there’s just something about a holiday that’s about Fellowship and Family. This year I have offered to host for Easter. I am super excited because this is the first holiday I am hosting. Our house is completely done, well in my mind at least. When Michael and I bought this house 3 years ago this summer, we renovated the whole thing. Knocking down walls, peeling off wood paneling, full kitchen remodel and finishing the basement were a few of the many things Michael and his dad did. I helped, maybe if you are lucky I’ll post the video of me trying to use a sledgehammer. ? But anyways, getting back to what I was saying. I am so glad to be able to host 13 people in my home and be proud where we are. It is also so nice that I have all of my family so close and I will never take for granted how great my two families get along. I truly have the best in-laws, and I am so glad to have everyone together this Sunday.
On my table I have made a cute Easter centerpiece and I will also have 2 bouquets of flowers that I am going to get at Costco when I go tomorrow. This is not as easy as Pinterest made it look. But of course not right? Unless you are a damn magician nothing turns out like the immaculate picture.
Pinterest told me to buy 4 packets of Bunny Peeps. I think it actually meant 4 rows. Figuring this out, I bought three just in case I needed extras. If not, well then I can eat them. Additionally I purchased a 4 inch glass jar and a 6 inch glass jar. The pin also called for yellow jelly beans. Oh my gosh, you wouldn’t think that it would be that hard to find jelly beans but it was. After going to Dollar Tree, Target and Wal-Mart and striking out at all three I decided to use lemon heads instead. I picked up the fake Daisies at ‘At Home’. they were $2.99 for the bundle of pink, and for the white. After a lot of maneuvering I came to the final result below. I have linked the original directions Here.
I am a huge fan of using things you already have. These 3 vases I use for every season/holiday and I just swap out what is in it. For example, I swapped out the frosted pine-cones from winter for some pebbles and fake begonias for spring time. For Easter I made some minor changes that will be easy to change back next week.
We are having Brunch because it’s basically my favorite meal. No, not basically, it IS my favorite. Here is what we are going to have.
I am all about ease and stress free. That is why I allow everyone to bring something if they offer. I am personally breaking out my waffle iron that we got from our wedding. The only reason I haven’t used it sooner is because homemade waffles are a lot of work for just two people. I know what you’re thinking, ‘You could use the box mix’. Well, my mom has forever spoiled me and I can’t go back to boxed waffles or pancakes. She makes the absolute best waffles. I’m also doing the deviled eggs, chocolate croissants and the drinks. My sisters and I have done this before but I am going to do my deviled eggs like this again.
Are you still struggling on what to wear? Well it might be too late to order some of these items but Check Out This Post for some inspiration!
